Every Saturday, members post photos based on a theme. The theme for this Saturday, October 13, 2007 is SMELLY.
Smelly means a lot of things. What smells good for some are smelled as stinky for others. I decided to post pictures and write my thoughts about smoke. Yes, smoke carries with it smells, that any way we interpret, be it from a scented candle or a cigarette smoke or a food being cooked, is still smell.
For people like me with big noses sensitive olfactory nerve cells, I can smell faint smoke, perfume, dog excretions and other smells, pleasant or otherwise.
Smoke coming from the top floors of the Union Bank Plaza, a stone’s throw away from where I work. This happened on a rainy Tuesday afternoon last week. I am glad it is too far away for me to smell the smoke but on the other hand, I feel sad that this happened.
A burning house a block away from where we live. The smell and the heat is indescribable.
A wonderful early evening sunset. We often times experience these kinds of sunset. But sad to say that these go unnoticed where we live. Please continue reading below:
Why?
1. People are too busy to stop and look up;
2. The smell of burning rubber tires permeates the air so people are staying indoors. Yes, we have been experiencing these awful smell again for three days just as we did three years ago. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Environmental Management Bureau called me up a few times then because I relayed a report. I just hope I can relay a message again to my daughter Trixie’s friend whose father works there. We are certainly feeling the effects of the smell: dry throat, some chest pains and headache.
Oh, if only I can capture the smell in the photo. But I couldn’t. Even if I could, I wouldn’t. Wouldn’t want you to smell it.
Have work Saturday, will be visiting soon.
Have a great weekend with pleasant smells!
