Weekly Word Inspiration: Learn Something New

Sometimes we got suck in the virtual world that we have not realized that we already spent an hour or two (or more!) just scrolling, looking, reading, stalking profiles of people we don’t normally socialize with personally.

Precious time wasted, for sure. So what to do with extra or idle time? LEARN SOMETHING NEW.

Below are a few suggestions on what to learn. No, don’t just rely on online video tutorials, because your goal is to spend less time going online.

1. Read books. Be it romance, autobiography, fiction, business, self-help and recipe books, read. You will always learn something new when you read.

2. Learn to Swim, which is perfect, for summer is just around the corner.

3. Learn to Play Musical Instruments. Don’t go for classical music ensemble because you will be disappointed. There are those who have been taking up guitar lessons for years but still sound amateurish, so opt for simpler musical skills first. You would know when you are ready to go do more difficult musical pieces. If it doesn’t work out…

4. Learn to Dance. Dancing is fun and it will help make you fit. Dancing will also make you feel happy tired, which is a wonderful thing.

SPEND TIME TOGETHER

Spend time with your loved ones as much as possible. Support their interests and show encouragement to help them feel good and inspired. Sometimes, you will go out of your way to accommodate them but make it known that everything is worth your while.

THE HEART MATTERS

The heart matters, not just the physical form but all those feelings and emotions that the heart is associated with. It has been said that it is not how attractive one looks nor how deep his pockets are but what is inside the heart that matters most. The heart holds our love, joy, grief, disappointments, expectations and longing, among other things.

As a child I remember memorizing this verse from Proverbs during Sunday School: “A joyful heart is like good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.”

What would you rather have in your heart that matters most?
